Week 3 Power Rankings

Image
Well folks, we've reached that point in the fantasy season... Week 4! There's been quite a bit to digest in this football season up to this point. The Dolphins are the greatest offense of all time! Taylor Swift is a Chiefs fan! The Jets are... still the Jets. But all this news pale in comparison to the major developments in the Boys League this season. With the first cycle of division matchups in the books, we now begin to have a more clear picture of who's who, and the rankings will be better able to reflect that. 1. The Flying Geckos (0) I doubt very much that geckos sound like mice, but these Geckos certainly squeaked by with a close win this week. But all being equal in the win column, that means 3 for 3, an undefeated record. The 49ers players on the squad provided early dividends, but it was once again Mike Evans (17.0) who provided the difference with the knockout punch late in the matchup. Having made a clean sweep of the East, the cold-blooded killers will search...

Week 2 Power Rankings

1. Flying Geckos Only two matchups into the season, but the Geckos' owner is not showing any signs of a sophomore slump. The aerodynamic reptiles put up the first 200+ point performance of 2023. improved to 2-0, and took sole possession of 1st place in the East division. A showing such as this has many contributors, so it is difficult to pick a hero, but my nomination is for Mike Evans (29.1), who has put up two strong weeks to once again demonstrate he just needs a warm body at quarterback to put up fantasy numbers. 2. The Pouncing Chubbs The Chubbs (man, that's weird to say) took a tough loss this week, but still managed to produce a respectable total, especially considering they were clearly easing new acquisition Travis Kelce (12.6) into his starting TE role, and the devastating injury to their main man. a little bit of roster turnover has not changed the fact that this team is still a danger to go off any given weekend, and make their opponent's life(s) a nightmare for...

Honorable Mention: Joseph's Cool Team Well, I am at a loss as to where to place this team after one week. The Cool Team managed to surpass 100 point threshold due not solely, but mostly to the efforts of the Justin Jefferson (24). Some bounce backs from their QBs should be expected, and hopefully certain wideouts, but it isn't the most electric start to the season for the new kid on the block. 1. The Pouncing Chubbs Well, well, well, what have we here? A team no stranger to the top spot in this weekly enterprise. The cheetah (or is he a lion now? I agree, it is confusing) Tyreek Hill put up a whopping 44.5 points, setting an already high mark for the season enroute to a [near] 200 point show for the reigning champion. A good beginning is always key, and a key trade in recent days may have turned a surprising challenger into repeat contender. 2. [Insert] The Cleveland Browns & Dallas Cowboys The field and weather conditions we less than ideal on Sunday... for the opposing of...

Preseason (Week 0) Power Rankings

  1. Joseph's Cool Team (12-2) A warm welcome to the newest kid on the block! And the draft experts, loving all things shiny and new, have of course given a glowing review. But, in all seriousness, this assemblage of talent has the makings of a strong roster, led by an elite quarterback tandem, the projected WR1 (Jefferson) and a proven tight end. The one major concern is the depth and structure of the running back position, with 2 players coming off of ACL surgeries. 2. Flying Geckos (10-4) The Geckos are hoping to soar to new heights in their second season (see, I can do it too, stupid AI), grabbing a strong running back duo to lead the charge, along with a well-payed tight end in a high-volume passing offense. The QB and WR groups are both solid, albeit lacking proven depth. 3. Receiver? I Barely Know Her! (8-6) Draft strategy? Pass-catchers, pass-catchers, pass-catchers. All else be damned! But these receivers are no joke, led by the ever electric Ja'marr Chase and old reli...
