The Midseason Rankings - Part 2 (Week 8)

Image
Nope. Still lazy. 1. Unlimited Bowers (+3) It was finally time to put this team here. While all the top teams took losses (in varying degrees of disappointment), Brock and the Boys celebrated their 5th straight win on the season, a streak that has turned them from a laughing stock into a potential contender. The overall balance of the roster highlights just how potent this roster can be, but two questions remain to be answered: 1) how long can this winning streak really last, and 2) how does this team react if/when that happens? 2. Got vax? (-1) The Vax had a disappointing showing this past week, highlighted by the unfortunate injury to Stephon Diggs and the bizarre scene that was the Lions-Titans game. Other than that, the rest of the team was not horrible, but it also certainly wasn't good enough. Let's call it a minor blemish on an overall strong first half, and move on. 3. Doctor Pain  Mixon It Up (+3) Pat felt like he deserved a big boost in the rankings. I don't know,...

The Midseason Rankings - Part 1 (Week 7)

Image
Rejoice, fellow owners! This week is a great week, the marker of the fantasy football midseason in the Boys League. The time has come to take account of the state of the league as a whole, but with a more in-depth approach than we are accustomed to in the usual rankings. In honor of the progress we have made, and the excitement of the current season, I have decided to split the midseason analysis into two parts. The first (this week's edition) will focus on general narratives of the team, and how their overall chemistry has been reflected in their performance. Part two (week 8) will focus on some fun, and certainly insightful, statistics to reinforce these positions in the standings. This decision was made purely for your benefit, dear readers, and not, I repeat, not  due to procrastination. Nah, I got lazy. F*** it. 1. Got vax? (+1) 2. So...what's going on? (-1) 3. The Pouncing Chubbs (0) 4. Unlimited Bowers (+1) 5. Air Rusty (-1) 6. Doctor Pain (+1) 7. Saquon These Nuts (+3) ...

A Fresh Start at the Power Rankings (Week 6)

... 1. So...what's going on? (0) The hottest team in fantasy stayed just that this week, with their 5th straight win. Sadly, we can't move this team any higher in the rankings, so they must be content with 1st place. This team has shown strong consistency during their run, regardless of the opponent faced, in large part due to the strong play of Derrick Henry, Chris Godwin, and Caleb Williams. Their situations suggest their success is sustainable, so there's every reason to think the SWGO's is as well. 2. Got vax? (+1) The Vax returned to their winning ways after a case of the hiccups the week prior (a bit of a stretch joke, but we had the 'health' angle right). Jared Goff (25.1) was excellent against those clowns in Dallas, and George Kittle (22.8),  who has proven to be one of the few reliable fantasy TEs this season, paved the way for what was a sweat-free victory. 3. The Pouncing Chubbs (+1) The Chubbs also won this week, keeping pace with our #2 team for fi...

Week 5 Power Rankings

Image
Week 5 had some fun narratives. but on the fantasy front there weren't too many surprises. With the dust settled, most everybody is still close to everyone else in the standings, so the rankings remain in a volatilely malleable state. 1. So...what's going on? (0) That's now four straight wins for the WGO, who are riding high off the rejuvenated performances of Joe Burrow (34.78) and Caleb Williams (23.56). There are some concerns about other players on the roster (namely Breece Hall and DeShaun Watson), but winning is the ultimate anecdote, and that trend doesn't look like it will change in the near future. 2. Air Rusty (+2) The Rusty put together a solid week, but had the misfortune of facing this week's juggernaut. With that in mind, as well as their strong body of work overall, we are giving the team a small bump up in the power rankings. It must also be said that their place here is far from secure, with bye weeks and QB injuries making this next week a difficul...

Week 4 Power Rankings

Now that we have something of a sample size under our belts, the Rankings Committee feels that evaluating the performances of each fantasy team is now a less complicated matter. The Committee also wishes to express their disappointment in the "clear decline in quality" of the baked goods served with coffee at each meeting. That second matter isn't really something you need to be concerned with, dear reader, but I just wanted each of you to know that my job is not as easy as you think, and pleasing people seems to become harder as time goes by... 1. So...what's going on? (+1) 2. Got vax? (+2) 3. Make Some Noise (-2) 4. Air Rusty (+2) 5. Doctor Pain (-2) 6. The Pouncing Chubbs (-1) 7. The Flying Geckos (0) 8. Unlimited Bowers (+1) 9. Goff My Lawn Guy (+1) 10. Saquon These Nuts (-2)
