Week 11 Rankings (Playoff Mode)
With the deadline rankings last week, we have entered the stretch run in the Boys League, where the games carry more meaning, not from a mathematical standpoint, but the pressure is building in the minds of our fantasy owners, and each win or loss is vital to their playoff chances and mental wellbeing. In accordance with tradition, the dreaded playoff percentage number returns to the rankings, and will keep track of the status of each team every week to see where they stand, both in terms of 'making it to the dance' and potential playoff seeding. In the words of one fantasy owner, things are about to get "spicy spicy".
1. So...what's going on? (0)
The WGO continued their winning ways this week, maintaining an undisputed state of dominion over the rest of the Boys League. Joe Burrow (29.04) and Jameis Winston (26.6) continued their strong fantasy production (both in disappointing losses) and Breece Hall (31.1) lead the team with his two touchdown performance on Sunday. There's not much more to say than that, so let's just move on, shall we?
Playoff Odds: 100%
Division Odds: 82%
A lock to make the playoffs, as a .500 record or better pretty much guarantees a by most simulations. The division title is also within a comfortable reach, with a two game advantage and only three games remaining.
2. Make Some Noise (+4)
The Noisemakers took sole possession of first place in the West division this week, a spot they have not held since Week 4. The roster on the whole performed admirably, if you ignore the RB and K spots. Surprise pickup Jonnu Smith (28.1) had himself a day in Miami, scoring two touchdowns and amassing over 100 yards receiving. It has been highs, lows, and now highs again for this team, so the question on everyone's mind here is: when do the lows come back?
Playoff Odds: 97%
Division Odds: 49%
The latest win has put this team on the inside track to both make the playoffs and win their division, with a winning (.500) record a certainty. There's a lot of work remaining, all against teams vying for the division themselves.
3. Got vax? (+1)
The Vax coasted to an easy (and much needed) win this week to keep pace in what has become a tight division race. The Jared Goff-Amon St. Brown stack (34.58-38.7) erupted in a way we haven't seen in quite some time, and these two will need to continue that production for this team to have any shot (teehee) at a first round bye.
Playoff Odds: 83%
Division Odds: 19%
A win set this team up well for a playoff push, and keeps them in the conversation for a division title.
4. Mixon It Up (+2)
A mix of great and bad from the team this week, with namesake Joe Mixon (35.3) putting up the points in clutch time to secure an unlikely come-from-behind win in Week 11. The roster leaves questions, but if the stars produce like stars then it's clear those questions are irrelevant. The division is still well within reach.
Playoff Odds: 83%
Division Odds: 20%
A big win in a continued turnaround from the early season woes. They are still looking up in the division, but can put themselves in first as early as next week.
5. Saquon These Nuts (+3)
Speaking of clutch performances, a late JK Dobbins touchdown run turned what seemed like certain defeat into a thrilling victory on Sunday, and gives the Nuts reason to stay optimistic about their chances. Saquon Barkley (33.8) continues an MVP caliber campaign on the field, and the new two-headed monster at WR of Cooper Kupp (28.6) and Tee Higgins (29.8) should strike fear into the hearts of any opponent. This team is hungry, and this week showed the league they aren't going anywhere.
Playoff Odds: 45%
Division Odds: 2%
The division title is likely out of reach, but the playoffs are still possible after a miracle win on Sunday. There is some room for error, but not much.
6. The Pouncing Chubbs (-3)
The Chubbs, with many key players on bye week, weren't able to hang with the rest of the Boys this week. These games happen. Shouldn't be a cause of concern. Why are I even still typing here?
Playoff Odds: 82%
Division Odds: 10%
A loss has this team slipping out of first place, but with a weak opponent there is the opportunity to make up the lost ground. This 82% feels like a conservative estimate.
7. Unlimited Bowers (-5)
The Bowers took one on the chin this week, spoiling the prolific performances of rookie TE Brock Bowers (31.3) and kicker Chris Boswell (24.0). Considering the somewhat lackluster showing on TNF, it is impressive that this team almost pulled off another win, but a loss is still a loss, and down the board you go.
Playoff Odds: 81%
Division Odds: 15%
It isn't over yet, but these guys might just have played themselves out of the division. They control their own destiny, but shouldn't fool themselves into thinking their leash is a particularly long one.
8. Air Rusty (+1)
Yes, the Rusty lost this week. Yes, the playoff chances are not great. But it was a strong performance on the whole, and without some late heroics we would be looking at this team in a softer light. The performances on the roster are looking better each week, especially from soon-to-be (at least, according to my sources) AFC West Champion Justin Herbert (24.38).
Playoff Odds: 12%
Division Odds: 0%
9. The Flying Geckos (-2)
The Geckos weren't bad this week, strictly speaking, and you could say that about their season on the whole. But this is not what you'd expect from a defending Champion. Fantasy hangover or not, it's time to dig deep for some pride. A loss next week could be the death knell.
Playoff Odds: 12%
Division Odds: 0%
10. Zero Fox Given (0)
What more can be said? Everything in front of them on MNF, and this team finds a way to lose. Why should I have to be creative and write something new when this team follows the same script? Don't you realize how tiring it is? You think I enjoy this? That I do it for fun? These rankings are an eternal toil, a path I chose in the foolishness of youth. The least you can do is make this purgatory entertaining. But no, you couldn't even do that, could you? Damn you
Playoff Odds: <1%
Division Odds: 0%
I thought a 6-8 team might be able to make the playoffs, but after seeing the head-to-head matchups it has come to my attention that there may be no lane for these boys. This team can take this one percentage point as a sign of hope, but realistically they are playing out the schedule to avoid the league punishment.
